Gotham: A History of New York to 1898

Burrows, Edwin G. and Wallace, Mike

Non-Fiction

Left off on page 690, a little over half-way through. Liked the Dutch days; dragging now in the early 1800s.

cover

A Model World and Other Stories

Chabon, Michael

Fiction

We’ve read Chabon’s novels, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and Werewolf but haven’t cracked the cover on this book of stories.

Titan

Chernow, Ron

Non-Fiction

This life of John D. Rockefeller has been sitting unopened on the shelf of reproach since 1998. On the bright side, it’s a first edition in perfect condition.

cover

Blur: The Speed of Change in the Connected Economy

Davis, Stan and Meyer, Christopher

Non-Fiction

This book came highly recommended in 1998 but we were changing too fast to slow down and read it. Still haven’t. Maybe things have changed and it’s out of date. Somebody read it and let me know.

cover

Second to None

Garfield, Charles

Non-fiction

We peaked reading Garfield’s Peak Performance and haven’t even given this book a chance.

Second to None : The Productive Power of Putting People First

Moral Grandeur and Spiritual Audacity

Heschel, Abraham Joshua

Non-Fiction

We stopped around page 250 for no good reason. This book of Rabbi Heschel’s essays was edited by his daughter, Susannah.

cover

Metaphysics as a Guide to Morals

Murdock, Iris

Non-Fiction

Having enjoyed many of Murdock’s novels, this book has remained unread since around 1994. Even when Murdock died, we didn’t pick it up.

cover

Accordian Crimes

Proulx, C. Annie

Fiction

Really loved The Shipping News and picked this up sometime in 1997. Sits unread, never opened.

cover

 Kennedy

 Sorensen, Ted

Non-Fiction

Picked this up at a used book sale in the 1980s. Waited for a democratic president to be in office to read it, and never quite got around to it.

cover

The Only Guide to a Winning Investment Strategy You’ll Ever Need

Swedroe, Larry E.

Non-Fiction

Known the bright author for years, and have wanted to read this, but still haven’t gotten around to it.
